The short version
Mizu runs on your Mac and keeps your projects, servers and settings there. The website and the licence service keep only what a licence needs. There are no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising.
What the licence service stores
- The email you bought with.
- Your licence key, how many Macs it covers, its update dates and the Paddle order numbers of your purchase and renewals.
- For each Mac you activate: a hashed id (a SHA-256 of the Mac’s hardware id, so the real id never leaves your Mac), its kind, like “MacBook Pro”, and the dates it was activated, last checked in and freed.
- When we last emailed you your key, so the licence page can’t be used to flood an inbox.
That’s all. Mizu never sends your projects, files, commands, logs or usage to us.
When Mizu talks to us
Mizu contacts the licence service only to activate, to free a Mac and for a quiet check about once a week. Each request carries the key, the hashed Mac id and the Mac’s kind, and nothing else. Mizu keeps working offline.
Updates come from the same site: Mizu reads the update feed and downloads new versions from it.
Payments
Paddle.com is our merchant of record. Paddle takes your payment and handles taxes and refunds under its own privacy notice. We never see your card details. Paddle tells us your email and what you bought so we can send your key.
Emails
We email you your licence key, and again when you ask for it on the licence page. We send no newsletters or marketing. Licence emails are sent through Resend.
Cookies
The licence page sets one cookie while you’re signed in, so it remembers your licence. It’s removed when you sign out and ends after a week. The site sets no other cookies.
Hosting
The website, the licence service and its database are hosted by Vercel and Neon.
Your choices
Ask us at support@usemizu.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Deleting it turns off your licence key, so we’ll check with you first.
